Some suggestions we got from a user:
*does sshuttle need to be run as root? Might not be good if they are connecting from a shared computer.
*Is there a reason not to use the same instructions as given for Windows users, except using a terminal instead of MobaXTerm?
*Some inconsistencies e.g. "userid@machine_name" versus "<username>@<cluster>"

The version in the first line should be updated to 3.5.2. The version 3.5 did not work for me.

Version issue
