The Rorqual cluster will be deployed in the winter of 2025. It is made up of

  • 670 CPU nodes
    • AMD EPYC 4th generation processors, 96 cores x 2 sockets (192 cores per node)
    • 768GB of DDR5 memory
    • 480GB of SATA-6Gbps SSD storage space
  • 8 large memory nodes
    • same as the CPU nodes, but with 3072GB of DDR5 memory
  • 8 large storage nodes
    • same as the CPU nodes, but with 3.84TB NVMe of storage space
  • 81 GPU nodes
    • 4 x NVIDIA H100 SXM5 80GB
    • Intel Xeon Scalable 4th generation processors, 32 cores x 2 sockets (64 cores per node)
    • 512GB of DDR5 memory
    • 3.84TB of NVMe storage space
  • InfiniBand interconnect
    • 200GB/s HDR
    • maximum blocking factor of 34:6 or 5.667:1
  • Parallel storage: several petabytes (details to come)
