Getting a cloud project[edit]
- If you do not have a Compute Canada account, create one with these instructions.
- If you are a primary investigator (PI) with an active cloud resource allocation (see RAC) you should already have a project.
- Otherwise request access to an existing project or a new project with our rapid access service (Rapid Access Service) here
Browser compatibility[edit]
The online web interface for OpenStack, the horizon dashboard, works well with both the Firefox and Chrome web browsers. Other browsers may work also, however some browsers have shown the error message Danger: There was an error submitting the form. Please try again.

Creating your first virtual machine[edit]
Log into the East or West cloud[edit]
Depending on where your project is located, go to the East cloud or the West cloud and enter your Compute Canada (CCDB) credentials.
When you log in, the OpenStack dashboard shows an overview of your resources.
To create a VM see instructions for creating a Linux or Windows VM.
