Here are two recommended approaches for copying data between instances running in the two clouds. The most appropriate method depends upon the size of the data volumes in your tenant. For very large volumes (e.g. greater than 5TB) Globus is recommended. There are several steps that need to be taken in order to make this work. Most of them are within instances themselves. Simplest method is to use Globus Connect Personal client with Plus subscription. Following is a list of steps required:
*Request Globus Connect Personal Plus subscription:
**Send email to globus@computecanada.ca
**Receive invitation and follow instructions within
*On each cloud instance involved in data transfer enable Globus Connect Personal
**Read relevant guides for Globus Connect Personal here: https://docs.computecanada.ca/wiki/Globus#Personal_Computers
https://www.globus.org/globus-connect-personal
**Get Globus Connect Personal installed on each instance, using proper guide. Linux: https://docs.globus.org/how-to/globus-connect-personal-linux/
**Adjust instances’ configuration to enable Globus Service communication:
***External IP is required
***Globus ports open on Cloud firewall
***Access to data on instances’ storage system must be allowed to user running Globus Connect Personal
**Run Globus Connect Personal as a background process in user space:
**As Globus Connect Personal Plus subscriber (enabled in step 1) source and destination instances creates shared endpoints
*Using any Globus Interface (globus.org, globus.computecanada.ca) access both endpoints created earlier and transfer data
**Read data transfer manual here https://docs.globus.org/how-to/get-started/
*Contact globus@computecanada.ca if any issues arise during this whole process for support and assistance.
